Our work is built on Domain-Specific Language Processing (DSLP), Weighted Topic Scoring (WTS), and Tailored Topics Taxonomies (TTT) — deterministic method that form the backbone of two awarded U.S. patents in “Profile Matching of Unstructured Documents.”
DataScava evolved from TalentBrowser, a product we created to automate resume-to-job matching for demanding NYC financial clients. The approach we pioneered eliminated ambiguity and guesswork, proving its value in the real world. We then stripped away recruitment-specific functions to build DataScava as a standalone platform for any industry.
Unlike vector search or NLP-based approaches, DataScava doesn’t interpret — it measures, filters, and categorizes with the Human in Command.

Janet is CEO/Co-founder of DataScava, TalentBrowser, and Integretech. She has 20 years of experience in software product development, I.T. recruitment for trading systems, and account management for clients in JPMorgan Chase, Credit Suisse, Bank of America, HSBC, Citibank, Jefferies, UBS, Morgan Stanley, Liquidnet, and others. Previously, she was a Partner in a New York City startup financial tech staffing firm and District Manager in a boutique I.T. consulting firm specializing in derivatives and capital markets I.T staffing.
John Harney, CTO/Cofounder
John is the CTO/Co-founder of DataScava, TalentBrowser, and Integretech — and the architect and developer of our software solutions.. He has 20+ years of expertise in software development, data mining, BI tools, SQL Server, cloud computing, .NET programming, and full lifecycle software development for financial services. His career began in Ireland, where he built decision support software for fixed income, FX, and cash markets — adopted by 19 of 23 banks in Dublin — before moving to the U.S. to work with clients in Eurobrokers, Citi, Barclays, and Prebon Yamane.
Scott Spangler, Senior Data Scientist, Principal Consultant
Scott is a named IBM Distinguished Engineer, former IBM Watson Health Researcher, Chief Data Scientist, and the author of the book “Mining the Talk: Unlocking the Business Value in Unstructured Information.” He has over 20 years designing and building solutions for unstructured data, with a decade focused on life sciences and drug discovery. Scott is known for applying advanced machine learning and cognitive computing techniques to solve discovery problems involving heterogeneous data sets. Areas of specialty include Unstructured Text Analytics for Scientific Discovery, Data Analysis, Statistics, Design of Experiments, Java Application Development, Intellectual Property Analysis, and Corporate Brand Reputation Analysis.
Al Mellina, Strategic Advisor and Board Member
Al is the former CEO/Managing Partner at Gartland & Mellina Group (GMG), a Management Consulting company that served the Financial Services industry with locations in New York City, London, and Toronto. Prior to GMG, Al was a Partner in BearingPoint and KPMG for over 11 years. GMG was acquired in 2019 by Sia Partners, a next-generation management consulting firm that offers a unique blend of AI and design capabilities with traditional practices including Banking, Insurance, Healthcare, Telecommunications and Media, Energy, Resources, Utilities, Transportation and Logistics, Industry and Retail, Government, and Technology. He earned his BS in Physics and MBA in Marketing from Iona College.
